CuteFTP 2.6

Any information such as your username/password can be found in the FTP Administration section of the Control Panel.

When you load CuteFTP, the FTP Site Manager will automatically come up. Here, you can add ftp sites to connect to. To add a site, click on the Add Site button.

Enter the following information:

Site Label: A name for the site
Host Address: ftp.yourhost.com
User ID: Your Username
Password: Your Password

Click the OK button.

Now you are back to the FTP Site Manager, and you should see the entry you just created in the right hand side box. Click once on your entry and then click on the Connect button to connect to the FTP site.

The files in the left box are local files on your computer, and the files listed in the right box are remote files on the web-server, containing your files for your website.

All of the FTP commands for basic usage can be found by selecting which file(s) you want to manipulate, and then right clicking on the highlighted file(s). This will bring up a pop-up menu of the actual commands. If you have a local file selected, then you have the option to upload. That will upload the selected file(s) to the remote computer. If you have a remote file selected, you will have the option to download. That will download the selected file(s) to you computer. Other important commands that you should know are:

Rename - You can only rename one file at-a-time, so do not have more than one file selected when you try to rename.
Delete - Delete will delete all selected files.
Make New Directory - Make new directory will just create and new directory under the current directory.

All of those commands work identically on the remote and local computers.
